Life is crazy busy and full! I have been married to my husband Derek for 16 years and we have five children together.
Mack, Ande, Burkley, Jud and Gray and their activities are the center of our world. They are all into sports and anything creative! Derek opened up a local Jewelry Store (King Jewelers) in 2003 and loves not only the jewelry aspect of the business but the connection piece. He loves people and is passionate about helping people. That passion has led Derek to serve our community through various board and elected positions over the last 20 years.
I also share Derek’s passion for people. Looking back, every job I have ever had has fallen somewhere in the “service” industry. Beside my family by biggest passion is volleyball. Volleyball has been an everyday part of my world since I was about 10 years old. I have been the varsity volleyball coach at Harper Creek for almost 20 years. I love that I am now able to share that passion with my own daughters.
For 11 years I was a stay-at-home-mom. I loved everything about that but once my kiddos all became school age, I started to feel like I wanted more. That is when I found NuSkin. I always say I wish I had found this when my kid were younger because it is such a perfect fit. This opportunity has given me the ability to keep my stay-at-home-mom schedule but still make money and have something that brings personal value into my life. What started out as a little bit of extra money has grown into so much more! I love the relationships that have been built through this journey and having the ability to help people with their skin care, beauty and health needs.
Derek and I love to travel and the kids are always up for any adventure life brings our way. I don’t want to forget our two pups Tilley and Boomer, they absolutely add excitement to the mix!
Why
Like the rest of you my life is crazy busy. All 5 of the kids are super involved in activities! Not to mention they are still young enough to actually want to be with me! 🤣 As most of you probably know volleyball has been my passion for most of my life and I’ve had the privilege of coaching at Harper Creek for 20 years (this year or last year, I think😉). My husband is very involved in the community as well as runs his own business so his life is crazy full. I had a hundred excuses of why I couldn’t make this business work. My kids needed me, I was never going to give up volleyball; which is like a full time job. My house is a lot of work. My husband already has his hands full. When would I fit it in? So many of you say that to me all the time. “How do you do it all?” That is the question I hear the most. The answer is you find time for things that are important. LIFE IS WHY I DO THIS BUSINESS NOT WHY I DON’T!
I started this business for a couple of reasons. I can honestly say what I want out of this now has changed and most likely will continue to change. When I started I wanted some extra money. I had stayed home for so long with the kids and needed to feel like I could have some extra money when I needed it. Derek is an amazing husband, father and provider. I am so grateful for that; I still felt the tugging at me to do more. What started as a little bit of extra “me” spending money has turned into a game changer for our family.
My second reason was more personal. I remember talking to to a few of my closest friends over the years and telling them I wanted my daughters to see their mom have professional goals and dreams. I thought it was important for me to take risks and show them that they can ”have it all”. I wanted them to see me struggle, to see me fail, to see me proud of myself and to see me never give up. That being said I believe it is equally as important for my sons to see those qualities in their mom. I want them to be good supportive husbands and to know their wives are capable and strong and can create their own path, whatever that may look like for them.
Has there been struggles as my family has learned to adjust to mom not being as available? Yes! Has there been times when the mom guilt gets to me? Absolutely. There have been many late nights and early mornings. I have been judged harshly because some feel I’m either spread to thin or I should devote more time to my kids. We have worked hard at balance and changing some of the roles in our family. I am proud of us. I can honestly say my marriage is stronger now. I feel more complete as a mom. I have learned how to make the flexibility of this business work for my family. I am so grateful to have met and got reconnected with some of the most amazing people.
There will continue to be highs and lows. I will do what I teach my kids to do and that is use failure as fuel to find the way.
It is so good for me to reflect back on “why”this is has turned into such a huge part of my life. This opportunity has been insanely awesome for me and it could be for you too! Thank you for being one of the people who have supported the hell out of me in this business and life. I thank you for that. Remember YOU can do anything!
